The Enlightened City...

Assalamu alaykum WW.

In this post I want to mention some details of our life here in Madinah.
We live in an area called Al Azhari which is about 10 minutes away from the Haram by car on a moderately busy day. Our house is within the boundary of the Haram areas of Madinah. We can see the mountains of Uhud from our house and we can also see the minarets of Masjid an Nabawi when we step out the house.

Currently my husband and I work at Taiba University teaching English to preparatory year students. These are students who have completed high school and are doing a foundation year before they begin their undergraduate studies.

Life in Madinah, like life anywhere in the world has its ups and downs. However, Alhamdulilah we get consolation from the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as narrated by Muslim:

Ibn 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who patiently endures the hardships of it (of this city of Medina), I would be an intercessor or a witness on his behalf on the Day of Resurrection.

So it is Alhamdulilah all the way in The City of Light!

Where to start...

Assalamu alaykum ww.

I am currently living in Al Madinah al Munawarra in Saudi Arabia.
I moved here in October 2012 and I teach English at the female campus of Taibah University.
What can I say about this city? Well Alhamdulillah just saying the word  Madinah should be enough to bring a feeling of warmth to the heart.
Thus predictably, when we first arrived we were very happy just to be here and to be in such close proximity to the Haram and the  beloved Prophet PBUH.
Also alhamdulilah we would have the opportunity to visit Makkah regularly too insha'Allah

Life in KSA is different to life in the UK and it takes some getting used to.
People are always asking us what we miss about the UK. What we miss the most while living here is of course, first and foremost our families...

Insha'Allah I will write more about our life and experiences in my next post!

With love, from the City of Light...
